Section 25 Live Performances

I am greatly indebted to Mark Buckwalter, Michael Mitchell, and James Nice for providing me the material for which to compile this listing. And of course, to Section 25 themselves! More information regarding their performances, compiled by both Vin and Larry Cassidy (RIP), can be found on their site.

Many of the earliest gigs are covered on the Section 25 concerts page.

Their first concert in nearly 20 years. Thanks go to indiearchivist for providing the setlist, which he's not 100% sure of, but it was partly based on the written setlist. He adds, "The venue was called Over The Edge because it was a function room/bar situated above a nightclub called The Edge. Support was Kevin Hewick (solo w/ acoustic guitar). I haven't got details of his full set, but the last song was, no surprise, "Haystack". The S25 trio itself was augmented by a bass player who looked like a death/dark/doom metal type of person, but despite this he turned out to be very good! Larry didn't pull his bass out until mid-set (for "Friendly Fires", I think), and at this point the bearded bass man stepped in on keyboards. Vin remained behind the drums for the whole set." In addition, there are several sessions of demos, from 1979, 1981 (SSRU+Key Of Dreams), 1983, 1984 (Rough mixes/studio rehearsals), and 2001, which were on the official Section 25 web site (in MP3 form) but were later removed. According to Nick Blakey, Tony Ashworth had told him that "I don't have anything on the Passage. S25 supported them once at Chorley Library in about 1979/80...a good gig poorly attended." Nick: "If this gig took place in '80 it would have been early 1980 before Dick Witts broke his arm in a car crash. However, something makes me think this is from 1979. This is no doubt the Chorley "old library" on Avondale Road, and not the new one which opened in 1986.
